Abstract
Surface irrigation is receiving
increased attention because of its low
energy requirements and cost. Current improvements are aimed at
reducing the amount of labor required
and increasing system efficiency.
Researchers at the USDA's Snake
River Conservation Research Center
in Idaho are developing new and
improved irrigation techniques and
equipment to achieve these objectives.
These improvements use automation
in one form or another along with
accessory equipment such as trash
screens and energy dissipaters.
